Colombia star James Rodriguez was the leading goalscorer at the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™, and in recognition of his achievement he was presented with the adidas Golden Boot by the company and FIFA at a special ceremony in Madrid.
The player shared the excitement of the occasion with his many fans by posting this message on his Twitter account: 6 goals in the @FIFAWorldCup. A dream come true. Thank-you for all your support!
The scorer of six goals in five games, the 23-year-old headed the Brazil 2014 scoring charts from Germany’s Thomas Muller and Brazil’s Neymar, who scored five and four respectively. James’ haul included his stunning volley against Uruguay, a goal voted the best of the tournament by FIFA.com users.
“Personally I preferred the one against Japan,” said the new Real Madrid signing in an exclusive interview with FIFA.com minutes after receiving the coveted award at the club’s facilities in Madrid.
The Cafetero idol has now added his name to the star-studded list of players to have won the accolade before him, with Muller having taken the honours at South Africa 2010, his compatriot Miroslav Klose outscoring everyone at Germany 2006, and Brazil’s Ronaldo making off with the award at Korea/Japan 2002.
